My plant friends are still alive and so am I, sort of. As usual I have 100 projects going on but I can’t find the energy to work on anything other than commissions.
Sort of belated update? It’s our girliest cover yet, courtesy of the fabulous Jamie Lynn Lano, who I got to meet at San Diego Comicon last week!
Anyway, Sparkler Year 2, Issue 1 launches August 4th—as of this month, we are switching from weekly Friday updates to one monthly update (just like a real magazine!), on the first Monday of the month—so you’ll get all your regular Sparkler goodness then. Including the first chapter of Jen Quick’s new series!!
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy (and share!) a special Year 1 sampler issue, compiling the FREE first chapters of all our multi-part series. You can read them all on the site here, or download a PDF of all of them here! 300-plus pages of original, girl-oriented comics and prose, all for you!
Thanks for an amazing first year!

It seems like sculpting is the only thing I’m doing these days, but I am still drawing too, I promise! Just nothing I can post or feel is good enough to post. But yeah! Let’s see if I can make a BJD.
Cleaned up a sketch in between everything else.
I’ve been dealing with life and spent some time off the net, but I’m back! So here’s a bad quality wip shot of my skeleton girls! The left one is commissioned, but the other will maybe be up for sale once it’s done. They do look a bit creepy when they’re not fully painted…don’t they.
SOMEONE DO MORE SKETCHES WITH THIS CONCEPT
Uhm…I’m seeing tags like “rise of the guardians” and “fanart” floating around on this post and I’d like to mention that THIS IS NOT FANART BUT MY OWN ORIGINAL ART. Please don’t tag this post with things like that, and I’d rather not have people copy this as it’s my own character and not fanart? Thank you.
Sparkler Share Your World Contest!
We here at Sparkler Monthly believe in the power of getting lost in the worlds of stories we adore - and what’s cooler than inviting other people to share those worlds? Whether it’s loaning your favorite book to a close friend or inviting your buddies over to marathon that amazing new show, you’re inviting other people into your heart.
How do you share your world? Draw us a picture (or a mini-comic!), write a short story or poem, or maybe even make us a song or a video about the ways that you share beloved stories with beloved people. Don’t want to recreate yourself or other people you know? Feel free to use your original characters! (No fanart without the creator’s permission, please.)

I got asked to do a tutorial on how to grow tomatoes, so here is one! I hope it’s all clear, but feel free to ask if you’re still wondering about something! Note that I’m no expert on this at all. In fact this is the first time I’m growing tomatoes too, but this way has worked for me and it’s been a lot of fun to watch these tiny plants grow!
I would check google or the packaging of the seeds for dates when to plant the seeds though. It’s probably best to start as soon as possible if you want to grow tomatoes this year!
