I’ll be taking off by airplane to Holland this evening. I’ll be back on May 29. Let’s hope the interview goes well!

I’m really glad I drew this in advance because even while I write this my whole body hurts like burning hell. The portfolio stuff is done in time though, so it wasn’t for nothing.

I’m sorry to have been so inactive. Since I’ve lost some followers during this process I must have disappointed a few of you. I hope I can put more life in this blog when I get back from my trip.

Sketching stuff for one of the assignments, which is to draw weird poses and things you see people do in daily life. I still have many sketches to finish but these are a few of them that are starting to look like something.

The assignments aren’t very strict, they just gave the medium and a loose description, so I think I’m going to try out a few different things and see what looks best.

One of the most awkward things I’ve possibly ever seen a person do is a teacher bending over people’s desks like that.

I need to add stuff to my portfolio and have to make them portable so I can carry them around in a bag, and there’s the 3 assignments I gotta do which are kinda strange and totally not in my comfort zone. Plus there’s commission work and some other things I’m working on and really need to do.

I also have to bring sketches and photos and what not so they can see my work process and stuff. But I don’t have much other than some characters in different angles.

So far I think I’m not too far behind on schedule, though trying to come up with something good for these assignments is very hard.

There is so much at stake right now. If I don’t get accepted it will not only affect my future, but also that of my entire family.

So this makes me a little nervous.

I typically charge around $10 for greyscale cards and $15 for color, give or take a bit depending on the level of detail. That includes a protector. If you find a good round number for local/international shipping, try including it in the price.

Yay, Romy-chan! Good luck! $10-$15 for a hard copy of an illustration is more than fine, and def use Storenvy (they’re awesome).

Yes I also think Storenvy is very good : ) I’ve bought from Storenvy shops before and I saw the TD shop is on Storenvy too, so it seemed like a good option! And thank you very much! Let’s hope for the best!

Going Dutch and more about the monstercards

After working, hoping and waiting, I can now say for sure I won’t be needing to go to Stockholm for an interview. I haven’t heard anything from the university, and I’ve read they handle things like that. So that’s that.

I possibly had to take the monstercards with me to the interview with the rest of my portfolio, therefore I had to hold on to them a little longer, and wasn’t able to sell them yet.

I thought I would be able to sell them now, (like I answered here) but everything drastically changed. I’ve literally gone through an emotional roller coaster this past week.

The plan was I would spend this year on creating a new better portfolio, and to focus on commissions. But my parents came with the idea maybe moving to Holland to study there would be better. I had never even thought of moving back there. Lots of things had to be talked about and it was all kinda awful, but things are ok now (I think).

The Gerrit Rietveld Academie is still open for applications, so I sent my info and a few days later I got the acceptance and 3 assignments to prepare for the interview. The interview is on May 28, so I will be there in Amsterdam that day!

More about the cards. I will be selling them on Storenvy.com, that’s for sure. The card you will receive will be an original, one of a kind. I’m still debating whether I should open up for custom orders too or not. If it’s gonna take much longer to make the monstercards available, and I find time, then I will.

I have to take the original artworks with me for this interview though, which means I STILL can’t sell the cards, dammit.

I still need to figure out the shipping costs, and I’m not really sure what I should ask for these cards yet either. I will do my best to make them affordable for everyone, but as I said above, they are one of a kind, and I put a lot of afford in them. I think they will cost between $10 and $15, but I don’t know if that’s too expensive. Does it sound okay?

Sorry I haven’t drawn your requests yet. I was going to draw one each day and practice a lot, but so much has happened that I haven’t really felt like doodling or even had time for it at all. These aren’t commissions and they’re supposed to be fun to draw, so I’ll draw them when I feel like it. But I will draw them.

As for commissions, I am working on them as much as I can!

I have no idea what I’m doing, but this is a prototype I’m working on. This tiny deer is only 1,9 inches tall, and I would like to make a bigger one in the right colors etc.

Sewing is something I never do, so it was probably stupid of me to start off with making my own pattern at the first try. But all the pieces fit together so far, so I think it’s going pretty well?

I was wondering if you are still planning to sell those cards I was hoping to maybe get one if I can afford it ;w;

I’ve been spending some time away from the pc, mainly because I’ve had really bad headaches. On other news, I got an e-mail saying the art-uni I had applied to (in case my first choice would backfire) has rejected me. I haven’t heard anything from the other uni yet so I guess they haven’t accepted me either, as interviews start at the beginning of April.

But anyway, I’ve started a few projects over the past 2 weeks. The crocheted things will contain erasers and other small stuff once they’re done, I’m working on several illustrations, making a prototype for a deer plush, I serve as a cat-pillow from time to time, and I’m working on more crocheting ideas, among other things.
